Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Maryland  Recycles ALL Plastics!

Put all of your plastics in the recycling bin:
plastic food trays,
yogurt containers,
all types of dining service hard plastics (milk crates, bread trays, etc.),
trash cans, bins, and the lids

Make sure items must be CLEAN and free of any food which would contaminate the load.  Spread the word and do your part!

The University of Maryland participated in Recyclemania ---a 10-week, international recycling and waste reduction competition among  colleges and universities.

The University of Maryland joined the Recyclemania competition for the first time in 2007 and has seen an increased effort in recycling, but are pushing for an even bigger effort this year. The hope is that these habits will continue long after the competition is over.

How Recyclemania works:

Each week we report our recyclables and waste weights and Recyclemania calculates our standing in the competition relative to our enrollment, resident student population, and number of staff. Weekly ratings are publicized to the campus community throughout the competition at www.environment.umd.edu/recycle and through other venues on campus.

We encourage everyone at Maryland to reduce waste and recycle!

If you are seen recycling, you may be "Caught Green Handed" and be eligible for a prize.
